John Albert (born January 19, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) and is under contract to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 6th round (175th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Albert was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up in Concord Township, Lake County, Ohio. ==Playing career== Prior to turning professional, Albert played NCAA college hockey with Ohio State University. On July 20, 2011, Albert signed on to play in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the St. John's IceCaps for the 2011–12 AHL season. Albert scored his first NHL goal on December 2, 2013 against Cam Talbot of the New York Rangers, one day after being recalled by the Winnipeg Jets, it was also his first shot on goal in the league. On June 29, 2015, Albert was given a qualifying offer, in order for the Jets to retain his negotiation rights.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Jets Make Qualifying Offers to 4 Players )〕 Albert was later signed to a AHL contract with the Jet's new affiliate, the Manitoba Moose on September 16, 2015.After attending the Jets training camp on a try-out he was re-assigned to the Moose prior to the start of following season and was subsequently named team captain.
